Behind Olio Zo is the story of a small family-run olive grove located in the heart of the island of Cyprus, at the site of the historic ancient city-kingdom of Tamassos, where climate conditions, water resources and soil properties have always favored olive tree cultivation. Present day olive-growers, the Antoniou family, have been combining centuries-old knowledge, family traditions, and advanced modern technologies for over twenty years to produce an exceptional organic extra virgin olive oil, which they launched in 2020 as an original premium brand. Named from words that allude to the ‘olive’ and to ‘living’, Olio Zo is about the aspiration of achieving, and sharing with others, a life of wellbeing and of good health.
“Though our family’s longstanding love, passion and respect for nature, we have created this single variety organic and high phenolic olive oil. We produce it in such a way that will preserve the integrity all of the intrinsically valuable qualities, health-protective and beneficial nutrients of ‘early harvest’ olive oil. Moreover, through each stage of production, we are mindful of not doing anything that is in any way harmful to the environment around us.”
Olio Zo, made from olives harvested when green and unripe, carries an official ‘BIO’ label that fully verifies that the olive oil was produced in full compliance with all E.U. Organic Regulations. Olio Zo extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) is distinguished by the extra value of its concentration in polyphenols, and its pleasant fruity and pungent flavor that conveys the aroma of a freshly-cut olive. Being rich in phenolic content, Olio Zo is in a special category of very high-quality EVOOs that can also be labelled with the E.U. Health Claim Regulation 432/2012 which recognizes the polyphenols unique to olive oil which offer very significant anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits.
Olio Zo olive oil is presented to the consumer in a very distinctive bottle that is made in Italy and hand-painted in Greece, specifically designed by the Antoniou family to both protect the olive oil from light, but also to allow the consumer to be able to see its special contents. The olive oil is bottled exclusively in their own certified bottling plant, and each bottle is numbered, sealed and then packaged in a premium box, with labels that clearly indicate authenticity, awards, and certifications.
Being ‘early harvest’, Olio Zo has an exceptionally distinctive taste and aroma, and is suggested by the family for all uses in daily consumption: freshly drizzled over food, for everyday culinary use and for gourmet cooking, but also enjoyed as two tablespoons (20g) for breakfast in order to obtain the maximum health-protective benefits, exactly as recommended by the E.U. Health Claim. This is the ideal EVOO for discerning and health-conscious individuals seeking natural health-beneficial foods of high nutritional value for their daily regimen, with the added pleasure of the beautiful packaging of an elegant and limited edition brand.
