Established in 2015, Beeology are a small family run business producing high quality honey imbued with the essence and flavours of Cyprus. They lovingly produce honey observing ethical and ecological principles at all stages of their creation. Their honeys are harvested using modern bee-keepings units (apiaries), utilizing natural and organic methods, in small batches and always with respect for nature and their bees.

Beeology honeys are pure, raw, never heat-treated and completely free from pesticides, insecticides or any other chemicals.

Orange honey is derived from the orange groves of Astromeritis, Peristerona, Avlona in Lefkosia district and from Fasoula in Lemesos district of Cyprus.

TASTE: Mildly sweet, velvety in texture with distinct notes of orange.

AROMA: Delicately citrusy.

COLOUR: Golden.

COLLECTION TIME: Spring (May).

Founder, Alekos Haridemos, fell in love with nature, bees, and wellbeing, which in turn led him to the art of beekeeping. So, it was that Beeology by Haridemos was born: a small family business producing high quality honey and honey-based products which are imbued with the flavours and aromas of Cyprus. The business strictly follows ecological principles at all stages of production believing that, “One can no more approach people without love than one can approach bees without care. Such is the quality of bees…” Leo Tolstoy (1828 – 1910).

Beeology is a word created by Alekos, deriving from the Greek suffix -ology (= the science of) and the word bee. Thus, the brand name refers to the art and science of bees.

Does this honey crystallize?

This honey naturally crystallizes after 2-3 months as a natural occurrence of pure, raw, unfiltered honey. This does not affect its quality and nutritional value.

How to de-crystallize:

Simply dip the (closed) jar in a container filled with warm water (not boiling) and leave for several minutes until the honey softens and returns back to a liquid state.

The best temperature for this honey:

Although honey can be exposed to higher temperatures for brief periods, the optimal temperature to keep honey and preserve its aroma, flavour and colour is at room temperature – ideally at ~15°C (~60°F).

Adding to hot beverages without losing the benefits:

Make your hot beverage first and add the honey once it has cooled down, when it’s warm but not boiling. Stirring with a spoon will help the honey to dissolve and the heat will not “kill” its beneficial enzymes and vitamins.

How to get the best out of this honey:

Honey is a living product and highly nutritious. Honey is best eaten raw, and never heated above 35-40°C (95-104°F). Higher temperatures will kill the beneficial enzymes and antioxidants that make honey so astonishingly powerful and healing.
